The Extraordinary Jack Lemmon
Born 8 February 1925. Died at 76 27 June 2001

The extraordinary Jack Lemmon was born on this day in 1925. What a career on stage and screen.
This autographed photo, from my collection, resulted from a fan letter I sent to him when he was in A Long Day’s Journey Into Night, by Eugene O’Neill, at the Theatre Royal, London in 1987. Nice, isn’t it?
On screen, Jack’s CV is mesmerising and he must have had several cabinets of trophies at home. Academy Awards feature strongly in his amazing successes":
Mister Roberts (1955) - Winner
Save the Tiger (1973) - Winner
Some Like It Hot (1959) - Nominated
The Apartment (1960) - Nominated
Days of Wine and Roses (1962) - Nominated
The China syndrome (1979) - Nominated
Tribute (1981) - Nominated
Missing 1982.
His partnership with Walter Matthau is cinema gold:
The Fortune Cookie (1966)
The Odd Couple (1968)
Kotch (1971)
The Front Page (1974)
Buddy Buddy (1981)
Grumpy Old Men (1993)
Grumpier Old Men (1995)
Out to Sea (1997)
The Odd Couple II (1998)
Big salute to one of the acting greats!
